Why the Rollout May Be Delayed
Software updates can sometimes face delays due to technical and regional challenges. Xiaomi may still be working on fixing critical bugs, improving hardware optimization, or completing firmware certification for specific markets.
Chipset compatibility and testing also play an important role before a wider rollout begins. Despite these delays, the company’s overall update schedule has remained fairly active since HyperOS 3.1 only started rolling out in April.
Reports suggest that around 85% of eligible devices have already received the update.
HyperOS 3.1 Brings Major Improvements
HyperOS 3.1 introduces several visual upgrades and system enhancements across Xiaomi devices. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Hyper Island on Xiaomi tablets, bringing improved multitasking and live activity support.
On smartphones, Hyper Island now includes smoother animations, better third-party app integration, and enhanced real-time notifications.
New Interface and Apple Connectivity Features
The update also refreshes the recent apps interface with a vertically scrolling layout and gesture-based card navigation inspired by iOS.
Xiaomi has additionally improved compatibility with Apple accessories. Users can now connect AirPods more easily through native pairing pop-ups, while features like ANC controls and spatial audio are also supported.
The lock screen customization system has been expanded with new depth effects, widget layouts, and personalization options.
Another important addition is the new Super OTA technology, which aims to reduce installation time, shorten reboots, and improve update stability.
HyperOS 4 and Android 17 Already in Development
Alongside HyperOS 3.1, Xiaomi is also preparing the next major software version, HyperOS 4, based on Android 17.
The Android 17 beta program is currently available for:
- Xiaomi 17
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra
- Xiaomi 15T Pro
More Xiaomi devices are expected to join the beta program in the coming months as the company continues testing new AI-powered features and system improvements.
