Google has officially released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 during Google I/O 2026, bringing several new interface upgrades alongside a long list of bug fixes. While the stable version of Android 17 is expected to launch within the next few weeks, Google is already testing the first major quarterly update that will power the upcoming September Pixel Feature Drop.
The latest beta update is available for users enrolled in the Android Beta Program. It supports a wide range of Pixel smartphones, starting from the Google Pixel 6 series up to the newest Google Pixel 10 lineup.
Android 17 Adds Smoother System Animations
One of the biggest highlights of the new beta update is the addition of fresh animations across the system. Google has improved the camera launch animation when users double-press the power button. The Camera app now smoothly expands from the side of the screen, creating a more polished transition effect from the lock screen.
The Quick Settings panel has also received a playful “bouncy” animation. When users pull down the menu, it slightly springs back, giving the interface a more dynamic feel.
Blur Effects Continue to Expand
Google is also pushing its new visual design language further by adding more blur effects throughout the interface. Background blur now appears in additional menus and UI layers, making the operating system look cleaner and more modern.
The company seems focused on making blur effects a key design element in Android 17, helping the software feel more visually refined.
Media Controls Receive a New Look
The media player inside Quick Settings has been redesigned with a new card-style layout. Instead of swiping between apps, users can now switch media sources simply by tapping on them.
This updated design aims to improve usability while offering a cleaner and more organized appearance for music and video controls.
Screen Recording Menu Gets Smarter
Google has also improved the built-in screen recording feature. The updated menu now remembers the last app selected for recording, making it faster to start new recordings.
In addition, new toggles allow users to quickly enable or disable device audio and microphone recording before capturing the screen.
Important Bugs Have Been Fixed
Alongside the visual improvements, Google has addressed several major bugs in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3. The update fixes issues related to Wi-Fi disconnections, distorted audio playback, fullscreen UI glitches, disappearing home screen widgets, and other stability problems.
These fixes should deliver a smoother experience for Pixel users testing the beta software.
