First “Max” Model in Xiaomi’s Flagship Series
The Xiaomi 17 Max marks the first time Xiaomi has introduced a “Max” version in its flagship lineup. Earlier, the company launched the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in September, followed by the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in December.
The launch of the Max edition comes several months after the last flagship release, making it a surprising addition to the Xiaomi 17 series.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Powers the Device
The Xiaomi 17 Max is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The smartphone features a large 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1200 x 2608 pixels.
The screen also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and delivers up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness, offering a premium viewing experience for gaming and multimedia use.
Powerful Cameras and Large Storage Options
Xiaomi has equipped the 17 Max with flagship-level camera hardware. The device includes a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens.
For selfies and video calls, the smartphone features a 32MP front-facing camera. The device is available with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.
Massive 8,000mAh Battery With Fast Charging
One of the major highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its huge 8,000mAh battery. The smartphone supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support.
In addition, Xiaomi has included 22.5W reverse wired and reverse wireless charging, allowing the phone to charge other compatible devices.
Android 16 and HyperOS 3
The Xiaomi 17 Max runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3 custom interface on top. The teardown video also reveals Xiaomi’s focus on thermal management and efficient internal space usage to support the phone’s powerful hardware.
