A new leak has revealed how Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable phone may compare in size to a rival from Huawei. The device, expected to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide, is rumored to adopt a broader aspect ratio this year.
According to information shared by tipster Ice Universe on X, a comparison image highlights the physical differences between Samsung’s unreleased foldable and the Huawei Pura X Max.

Leaked Dimensions and Design
The Galaxy Z Fold Wide is said to measure 123.9 x 164.4 x 4.3 mm when unfolded. When folded, it may shrink to 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm.
Reports also suggest a 4.7:3 aspect ratio for the cover screen. Meanwhile, the inner display could feature a 4:3 ratio, offering a more tablet-like experience.
Huawei Pura X Max Comparison
In comparison, the Huawei Pura X Max measures 120 x 166.5 x 5.2 mm when unfolded. When folded, it reportedly comes in at 120 x 85 x 11.2 mm.
This means Samsung’s device could be slightly slimmer and narrower in some areas. However, both phones appear closely matched overall, signaling direct competition in the wide foldable segment.
Market Position and Competition
Although both devices share similar design goals, they target different markets. Samsung dominates globally, while Huawei remains strong mainly in China.
Still, the shift toward wider foldable displays shows a growing trend in the industry, especially with new competitors entering the space.
Expected Launch Timeline
The Galaxy Z Fold Wide is expected to debut in July. It may launch alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8.
If the leaks are accurate, Samsung could be preparing a strong response to rising competition in the foldable market.
