PTA Taxes Increased for Google Pixel 9 Series in Pakistan Following New FBR Valuations

Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revised customs values for imported used smartphones, leading to higher PTA taxes on several devices, including the latest Google Pixel 9 Pro lineup. The updated list affects importers bringing phones into the country and reflects a broader adjustment across multiple brands.

The revised taxation policy does not only target Google devices. It also impacts smartphones from major manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple, and OnePlus, all of which have seen similar increases in PTA duties recently.

PTA Taxes Increased for Google Pixel 9 Series in Pakistan Following New FBR Valuations

Higher PTA Taxes for Pixel 9 Lineup

According to the latest update, PTA taxes on the Google Pixel 9 series have increased significantly compared to the January 2026 figures. The standard Pixel 9 now carries a tax of Rs. 27,297 on CNIC, up from Rs. 19,721, while the passport-based tax has risen to Rs. 24,836 from Rs. 17,740.

For the Google Pixel 9 Pro, the CNIC tax has increased to Rs. 31,077, compared to the earlier Rs. 21,989. Similarly, the passport tax now stands at Rs. 28,616, up from Rs. 20,008.

Meanwhile, the premium Google Pixel 9 Pro XL also saw a notable jump. The CNIC tax has climbed to Rs. 34,000 from Rs. 29,565, while the passport tax increased to Rs. 31,539 from Rs. 27,104.

Increase Driven by Higher Custom Values

The rise in PTA taxes is directly linked to updated customs values set by the FBR. The declared value for the Pixel 9 has been increased from $150 to $215. Likewise, the Pixel 9 Pro’s valuation has gone up from $195 to $290.

For the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the customs value has been revised from $265 to $348. These higher benchmarks are used to calculate import duties, which explains the increased PTA taxes across the lineup.

Pixel 9a Missing from List

Interestingly, the Google Pixel 9a has not been included in the latest FBR valuation list. This means there is currently no updated PTA tax data available for that specific model.

Impact on Importers

These revised tax rates apply mainly to importers dealing in used or older smartphones. The changes are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to standardize customs valuations and regulate the mobile phone market in Pakistan.

With higher duties now in place, importing devices from the Pixel 9 series has become more expensive, which may ultimately influence retail prices in the local market.
