New leaks indicate that both Oppo and Honor are preparing a major upgrade in selfie camera technology for their upcoming flagship smartphones. The highlight is a new 100MP square-shaped front camera sensor that could change how users capture selfies.
Oppo Find X10 Series Expected 100MP Selfie Camera
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Find X10 series may feature a Samsung-developed 100MP front camera.
The sensor is said to support a 1:1 square format and measures around 1/2.5 inches. This design is expected to improve framing flexibility for selfies and video calls, making it easier to capture both portrait and landscape shots without rotating the device.
Honor Magic9 Series Testing 100MP Front Camera
In a separate leak, the upcoming Honor Magic9 lineup is also reportedly testing a 100MP selfie camera.
The device may use the OVA0B sensor with a larger 1/1.8-inch size, which is expected to be cropped into a square format for optimized selfie capture and improved composition control.
Honor Magic9 Rear Camera Setup Details
The leak also reveals possible rear camera upgrades for the Magic9 series. The phone is expected to feature:
- 200MP primary camera
- 64MP periscope telephoto lens
Additionally, Honor is reportedly testing multiple 200MP sensors, including OV52A, OV52B, and a larger OV50B-class sensor for its main camera system.
Why Square Selfie Cameras Matter
The square selfie sensor design is becoming an emerging smartphone trend. Similar concepts have already appeared in devices from Apple.
This format allows users to take selfies in both portrait and landscape orientations without rotating the phone. It also provides a wider field of view, making it easier to fit more people and background detail into a single shot.
