Motorola has officially unveiled the Moto G87, the newest addition to its popular G-series lineup. Positioned as the successor to the Moto G77, the smartphone introduces several major upgrades, including a high-resolution 200MP camera, improved display quality, and the latest Android 16 operating system straight out of the box.
Notably, the Moto G87 becomes the first device in the G-series to feature a 200MP primary sensor, marking a significant leap in Motorola’s mid-range camera capabilities.

Sharper Display and Premium Build
The Moto G87 sports a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1272 × 2772 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. According to Motorola, the panel delivers around 17% higher resolution than standard Full HD screens and achieves an impressive peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.
To enhance durability, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The device is also built to withstand tough conditions, carrying IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. Additionally, it meets MIL-STD-810H standards and is rated to survive drops from heights of up to 1.2 meters.
In terms of design, the phone measures 164.58 x 77.37 x 7.38mm and weighs 183 grams. It is available in Pantone Overture Gray and Pantone Blue Atoll color options.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Moto G87 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, built on a 6nm process. The processor features an octa-core configuration with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
The device comes in multiple configurations, offering 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Users can expand storage further via a microSD card of up to 2TB. Motorola’s RAM Boost feature also allows virtual memory expansion up to 24GB.
The Moto G87 runs on Android 16 and includes enhanced audio performance, with speakers claimed to deliver up to 280% louder sound compared to the previous generation.
200MP Camera Takes Center Stage
The highlight of the Moto G87 is its advanced camera system. It features a 200MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization and Ultra Pixel technology. Motorola claims this setup significantly improves low-light performance, increasing light sensitivity by up to 16 times.
The camera supports 2x lossless zoom and is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the smartphone houses a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Additional camera features include Auto Smile Capture, multiple portrait focal lengths (24mm, 35mm, and 50mm), and AI-powered tools via Google Photos such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, and Auto Frame.
Battery and Pricing
The Moto G87 is equipped with a 5,200mAh battery and supports 30W TurboPower fast charging.
