iPhones Set to Receive Advanced AI Photo Editing Tools with iOS 27

Apple is preparing to introduce a new wave of artificial intelligence features for iPhones. The update is expected to arrive with iOS 27, which may debut on June 8 during the Worldwide Developers Conference.

According to recent reports, the upcoming software will focus heavily on AI-powered tools. These features aim to improve both user experience and photo editing capabilities within the Photos app.

New AI Tools Coming to Photos App

The update is expected to include a new “Apple Intelligence Tools” section inside the editing interface. This section may introduce four key features: Extend, Enhance, Reframe, and Clean Up.

Extend is designed to expand images beyond their original frame. Users will likely adjust the size and direction by dragging the photo edges, while AI generates new content to fill the space.

Enhance will automatically improve photos. It is expected to adjust colors, lighting, and overall image quality using artificial intelligence.

Reframe Focuses on 3D Photos

The Reframe feature is being developed for spatial images used in Apple Vision Pro. It will allow users to change the viewing angle of a photo after capturing it.

This feature could offer a new way to interact with 3D content. However, it may remain limited to specific devices that support spatial photography.

Clean Up Remains Part of the Experience

Clean Up is already available and will continue in iOS 27. This tool allows users to remove unwanted objects from images using AI.

While useful, some users have reported issues. These include visual glitches, incorrect background fills, and image distortion in certain cases.

Development Challenges May Cause Delays

Reports suggest that not all features are ready yet. Internal testing has revealed performance issues, especially with Extend and Reframe.

Because of this, Apple may delay some tools or limit their functionality at launch. The company appears to be refining these features to ensure better performance.

More details are expected to emerge as the launch date approaches.
