Apple is preparing a major design shift for its iPhone lineup to mark the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone. According to recent reports, the celebration will not come as a separate special edition device. Instead, the changes will be integrated into the upcoming Pro models.

Big redesign planned for Pro series
The report suggests that the 2027 versions of the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max will feature a new quad-curved display design. This means the screen would curve gently on all four edges, creating a more seamless and futuristic look compared to the current flat-edged design.
Interestingly, this design approach was once used by several Chinese smartphone brands. However, many of them later moved back to flat displays, similar to current iPhones. If Apple adopts this style, it would bring a design trend full circle in the smartphone industry.
Under-display technology still uncertain
Alongside the design changes, Apple is also exploring under-display camera technology for future Pro models. However, there is still uncertainty about whether this feature will be ready in time for launch.
More realistically, the company may focus first on placing Face ID sensors under the display. Even that development, however, has been rumored for years without any confirmed rollout timeline.
Apple continues long-term innovation plans
As always, Apple is expected to introduce these changes gradually, focusing on refinement rather than rushing new technology. The upcoming iPhone Pro lineup in 2027 could therefore represent one of the biggest visual upgrades in years, especially as the brand marks two decades since the first iPhone launch.
For now, these details remain unconfirmed, but they highlight Apple’s ongoing push toward more advanced display and camera integration in future devices.
