Xiaomi has officially introduced the new Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro smartphones, bringing significant improvements across nearly every category. The company has also skipped the “16” branding for the T-series lineup, matching the naming strategy used for its flagship phones. Both devices arrive with upgraded displays, larger batteries, powerful MediaTek chipsets, and improved camera systems, but they also come with noticeably higher price tags.
Xiaomi 17T Gets a Compact OLED Display
The standard Xiaomi 17T features a smaller 6.59-inch OLED screen, compared to the larger 6.83-inch display found on the previous Xiaomi 15T and the new Pro variant. Despite the smaller size, the phone still offers premium specifications, including a 120Hz refresh rate, 1268p+ resolution, 12-bit color support, and up to 3,500 nits peak brightness.
Xiaomi has also added 3,840Hz PWM dimming alongside DC dimming for improved eye comfort during extended use. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and is available in Black, Deep Blue, and Deep Violet color options.
Xiaomi 17T Pro Brings a Faster 144Hz Display
The Xiaomi 17T Pro keeps the larger 6.83-inch OLED panel and upgrades the refresh rate to 144Hz. The screen supports 1280p+ resolution, 12-bit colors, and the same 3,500 nits peak brightness. Xiaomi also included an ultra-dim 1-nit mode for low-light viewing.
The Pro model is slightly thicker and heavier than its predecessor. It comes in Black, Blue, Violet, and Opal White finishes while maintaining Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
New MediaTek Chipsets Power the 17T Series
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, built on a 4nm process. Xiaomi claims the new processor delivers up to 25 percent better GPU performance than the previous generation. The phone pairs the chipset with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro uses the flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor based on a 3nm architecture. Xiaomi says the chip offers a 32 percent boost in single-core CPU performance and a 33 percent faster GPU compared to the older model.
Both smartphones include Xiaomi’s 3D IceLoop cooling system with a vapor chamber to improve thermal management during gaming and heavy usage.
Improved Connectivity and Audio Features
The Xiaomi 17T Pro supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 with dual Bluetooth connectivity, while the regular model supports Wi-Fi 6E and standard Bluetooth 6. Both devices feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio certification.
Xiaomi has also included NFC, dual-SIM support, and Offline Communication technology. Some regions will additionally receive eSIM compatibility. However, neither device includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi Upgrades the Telephoto Cameras
One of the biggest improvements in the Xiaomi 17T lineup comes in the camera department. Both phones now feature a new 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 115mm focal length. This replaces the older 2x telephoto setup from the previous generation.
The new sensor also supports 10x optical-grade zoom using in-sensor technology and can capture tele-macro shots from as close as 30cm. Alongside the telephoto camera, both phones include a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 32MP front-facing selfie camera.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro separates itself with a larger 50MP OmniVision Light Fusion 950 main sensor featuring bigger 1.2µm pixels. Both phones use Leica Summilux lenses with optical image stabilization support.
Xiaomi has also introduced new camera features, including Stage mode, Leica Live Moment, Leica Live Portrait, and 4K 60fps HDR10+ video recording with Log support.
Bigger Batteries and Faster Charging
Battery capacity has increased significantly across both models. The Xiaomi 17T now packs a 6,500mAh battery, which is 1,000mAh larger than its predecessor. The phone supports 67W HyperCharge, 50W USB PPS charging, and 22.5W reverse wired charging.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro takes things further with a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that contains 16 percent silicon content. Xiaomi says this is a 27 percent increase compared to the previous generation. Charging options include 100W HyperCharge, 100W USB PPS wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi 17T Series Prices Increase
The Xiaomi 17T starts at $872 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The Xiaomi 17T Pro begins at $1,047 for the same storage configuration.
Compared to the Xiaomi 15T lineup, both new devices are $116 more expensive. To justify the higher prices, Xiaomi is offering additional perks, including a 3-month Google AI Pro subscription with 5TB cloud storage, 3 months of YouTube Premium, and a 4-month Spotify Premium trial.
