Google is preparing to expand Quick Share compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop to more Android smartphones, making cross-platform file sharing easier for users. The announcement was made during the recent Android Show: I/O Edition event.
The feature allows Android users to send photos, videos, and documents directly to iPhones without relying on third-party applications. Google says the goal is to improve communication between Android and iOS devices through a simpler sharing experience.
Quick Share Support Continues to Expand
Google first introduced AirDrop interoperability with the launch of the Google Pixel 10 series last year. After that, the company gradually extended support to older Pixel devices and selected flagship phones from other brands.
The feature is already available on devices such as the Google Pixel 8a, Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup, Oppo Find X9 Ultra, vivo X300 Ultra, and the Oppo Find N6.
Samsung Phones Next in Line
Google has now confirmed that several more Samsung smartphones will soon receive the feature. The upcoming rollout includes the Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup and the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
Foldable devices are also part of the expansion. Support is expected for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, and the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.
More Brands Joining the Rollout
Google is not limiting the feature to Samsung devices. The company also plans to bring Quick Share and AirDrop support to additional flagship phones from other Android brands.
The next wave of supported devices includes the Oppo Find X8 lineup, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6, and the Honor Magic8 Pro.
Rollout Timeline Still Unclear
Although Google has confirmed the expansion, the company has not revealed an exact release schedule for these devices. More details are expected to arrive in the coming weeks as manufacturers begin enabling the feature through software updates.
