Samsung Galaxy S24 or S24 FE; Which Device Offers the Best Bang for Your Buck?

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE vs. Galaxy S24: A Quick Comparison

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE launched in Pakistan about two months ago, featuring an Exynos 2400e chip and a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display. With a lower price tag than the standard Galaxy S24, it offers flagship-level features, making the choice between these two models a challenging decision. Here’s a detailed comparison to help you decide.

Samsung Galaxy S24 or S24 FE; Which Device Offers the Best Bang for Your Buck?

Screen, Design, and Features

Both models share a similar design, with glass rear panels and a triple-camera setup. However, the screen sizes set them apart. The Galaxy S24 has a compact 6.1-inch AMOLED display, making it an excellent choice for fans of smaller phones.

The S24 FE, on the other hand, features a larger 6.7-inch 2X AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. While the features are comparable, the Galaxy S24 stands out with its brighter 2600-nit panel and ultrasonic fingerprint reader. In contrast, the S24 FE has a 1900-nit display and an optical fingerprint sensor, which is slower and less reliable.

Performance

The Galaxy S24 FE is powered by the Exynos 2400e, an underclocked version of the Exynos 2400 used in the Galaxy S24. The difference in performance is about 10%, as reflected in Geekbench 6 scores:

  • Galaxy S24 FE: 2065 (single-core) | 6109 (multi-core)
  • Galaxy S24: 2255 (single-core) | 6875 (multi-core)

For gamers and power users, the Galaxy S24 is the clear winner, offering better speed and efficiency.

Cameras

The S24 FE’s 10MP front camera lacks HDR and autofocus, while the Galaxy S24 features a 12MP front camera with dual-pixel autofocus and HDR capabilities. Post-processing is also superior on the S24 due to its advanced SoC.

Both models share a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide shooter. However, the S24 FE’s 8MP telephoto lens delivers lower-quality zoom shots compared to the S24’s 10MP telephoto with better aperture and resolution. Both phones support 8K video recording at 30FPS and 4K at 60FPS.

Battery and Charging

The Galaxy S24 FE has a larger 4700mAh battery compared to the S24’s 4000mAh. However, the S24’s smaller, more efficient display helps it conserve power. In a three-hour video streaming test, the S24 lost only 14% battery, while the S24 FE drained 17%.

Both phones support 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.

Pricing, Storage, and Features

Both models are IP68-rated and protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. They include Wi-Fi 6e, USB-C 3.2 with Samsung DeX support, and are set to receive One UI 7.0 with Android 15. Storage options are similar, but the Galaxy S24 offers up to 12GB RAM, whereas the S24 FE maxes out at 8GB.

  • Galaxy S24 FE: Rs. 219,999 (base model)
  • Galaxy S24: Rs. 289,999 (8/256GB variant)

Which Should You Choose?

If performance and photography are your priorities, the Galaxy S24 is the better choice. It excels in speed, multitasking, and camera quality, making it ideal for power users.

If you prefer a larger display and want to save money, the Galaxy S24 FE is a great option. While it compromises slightly on performance and camera quality, it retains flagship-grade durability and screen features. At Rs. 70,000 less, the S24 FE offers excellent value for its price.
