
HMD Launches New Budget 5G Smartphone
HMD has officially unveiled the new HMD Vibe 2 5G after several teasers. The device arrives as the successor to the original HMD Vibe launched in 2025 and introduces several upgrades, including a larger battery and improved display features.
Large Display with Modern Design
The HMD Vibe 2 5G comes with a 6.75-inch IPS LCD display that offers HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. The phone is available in Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink color options.
HMD has also added an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. The device includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio users.
Unisoc Chipset and Android 16
The smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T8200 chipset, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can also expand storage through a microSD card slot with support up to 1TB.
The phone runs Android 16 straight out of the box. HMD has confirmed that the device will receive two years of security updates.
50MP Camera Setup
For photography, the HMD Vibe 2 5G features a 50MP main rear camera accompanied by an additional secondary sensor. However, the company has not shared details about the auxiliary lens.
On the front, the smartphone includes an 8MP selfie camera for video calls and social media use.
Big 6,000mAh Battery
One of the key highlights of the HMD Vibe 2 5G is its massive 6,000mAh battery, designed to deliver long-lasting performance throughout the day. The device supports 18W wired charging.
Price and Availability
The base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at around $115. Meanwhile, the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage version costs approximately $125.
With its affordable price, 5G connectivity, and large battery, the HMD Vibe 2 5G aims to attract budget smartphone buyers looking for modern features at a low cost.
