Galaxy S26 Design Sketch Leaks; Confirms New Camera Island & Qi2 Wireless Input

Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy S26 has made its way into the spotlight with some newly leaked design sketches, hinting at a significant visual refresh. The images reveal a revamped rear camera housing, now dubbed the “camera island,” which replaces the separated lenses we saw on the Galaxy S24 series. This marks the first major design change in Samsung’s flagship lineup in two years.

New Camera Island for a Unified Look

The most eye-catching update is the new camera island that seamlessly integrates all three rear sensors into a single raised panel. This design not only enhances the phone’s sleek appearance but also offers better protection for the lenses. The island features slightly curved edges, aligning with Samsung’s trend toward smoother, more ergonomic designs.

Qi2 Wireless Charging Confirmed

Another thrilling detail from the leak is the inclusion of Qi2 wireless charging. Qi2, the latest in wireless charging technology, introduces magnetic alignment akin to Apple’s MagSafe. This means you can expect faster, more reliable wireless charging, along with the convenience of using magnetic accessories like battery packs and stands.

Slimmer Frame and Refined Materials

The leaked sketches also suggest a slimmer aluminum frame with a matte finish, indicating that Samsung is aiming for a more premium feel. Reports suggest that the Galaxy S26 will continue to utilize Armor Aluminum and Gorilla Glass Armor, ensuring it remains both durable and stylish.

Display Design Remains Flat

While the frame is getting slimmer, the display stays flat, just like the Galaxy S24. It seems Samsung has listened to user feedback favoring a flat screen for better grip and fewer accidental touches. The bezels, however, appear to be slightly thinner, providing a more immersive viewing experience.

Expected Launch Timeline

Following Samsung’s usual release schedule, the Galaxy S26 lineup—including the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra—could make its debut in January 2026. The company might tease the device earlier at CES or through controlled leaks, similar to their marketing strategy from last year.
