Lenovo Re-Enters Smartphone Market With Powerful Legion Y70 Gaming Phone

Lenovo has officially made its comeback to the smartphone industry with the launch of the new Lenovo Legion Y70. The device marks Lenovo’s first smartphone released under its own branding since the Legion Y90 arrived in 2022.

The new Legion Y70 focuses heavily on mobile gaming performance. It combines flagship-grade hardware, a massive battery, advanced cooling technology, and ultra-fast charging support to attract gaming enthusiasts.

Premium Gaming Design and Bright OLED Display

The Lenovo Legion Y70 features a large 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother gameplay and scrolling. The screen also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, offering enhanced colors and contrast during gaming and video playback.

Lenovo claims the panel can reach an impressive 7,000 nits of peak brightness, making outdoor visibility significantly better. The phone will be available in two color options, including Ice Soul White and Carbon Black.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Powers the Device

Under the hood, the Legion Y70 is powered by Qualcomm’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Lenovo pairs the processor with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM running at speeds of up to 9,600Mbps.

Storage options begin at 256GB UFS 4.1 and go up to 1TB. Buyers can choose from multiple variants, including 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB configurations.

To maintain stable gaming performance, Lenovo has added a large 5,500mm² vapor chamber cooling system. According to the company, the thermal solution can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 7°C during heavy usage.

Dual Cameras With 50MP Main Sensor

For photography, the Legion Y70 carries a 50MP primary camera featuring a 1/1.56-inch sensor, optical image stabilization, and an f/1.8 aperture.

The setup also includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus support. Lenovo says the ultra-wide lens can capture macro shots from as close as 2.5cm.

On the front, the smartphone houses a 32MP selfie camera for video calls and social media photography.

Massive 8,000mAh Battery With Bypass Charging

One of the biggest highlights of the Lenovo Legion Y70 is its huge 8,000mAh battery. The device supports 90W wired fast charging for quicker power-ups.

Lenovo has also included bypass charging support. This feature allows the phone to draw power directly from the charger while gaming, helping reduce battery heat and long-term battery wear.

Lenovo Legion Y70 Price

The Lenovo Legion Y70 starts at around $450, making it a competitive option in the premium gaming smartphone segment.
