Vivo has already released its bar-style flagship devices for 2025, which means the company is now shifting focus to its next foldable handsets. The new model expected to replace the Vivo X Fold 3 is the Vivo X Fold 4, and we’ve already come across some key details about this upcoming device.

The name mentioned in the latest report is a placeholder. It’s possible that the X Fold 4 could be named “X Fold 5,” as many Chinese brands typically avoid using the number “4” in their product names. Regardless of the final name, Digital Chat Station has shared some useful information about this device on Weibo.
According to DCS, the new Vivo folding phone is expected to launch in Q3 2025, between July and September. This timing is close to when Samsung typically releases its Galaxy Z Fold series, meaning Vivo will have some strong competition.
Although the leaker did not specify the exact product name, it appears that the regular X Fold 3 will be replaced by a new model with an upgraded chip. Last year, Vivo released two horizontal folding phones, one of which was the Pro model. The Pro version featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the standard version came with the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which had been available for a year. This tiered specification approach often results in noticeable price differences in the market.
It seems that the standard X Fold 4 will get an upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the Gen 3, while the Pro model may feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite. DCS’s leak also suggests that the new folding phone might feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and support wireless charging.
The previous Vivo X Fold 3 lacked wireless charging, so this would be a welcome improvement. Additionally, the leaker hints that the new model could come with a periscope telephoto lens, a feature that was present on the X Fold 3 Pro but absent from the regular X Fold 3.
Earlier reports about this device also mention a large AMOLED display with a high refresh rate and a standard-sized cover screen. It is rumored that the X Fold 4 will sport three 50MP cameras on the back, an IPX8 water resistance rating, and a 6000mAh battery. There is still much to learn about the Vivo X Fold 4 and X Fold 4 Pro, so if you’re curious about these devices, be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
