The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra debuted at today’s Unpacked event, leaving a positive first impression. While hardware updates weren’t heavily emphasized, the introduction of One UI 7 marks a significant software evolution for the Ultra series.

Refined Design Updates
One of the most noticeable changes is the shift from pointy to rounded corners. This adjustment allowed Samsung to fit a larger display into the S25 Ultra. However, the new design may divide opinions. While rounded corners improve comfort, the sharper flat edges make handling the large device slightly challenging.
On the bright side, Samsung has made the phone slimmer and lighter. Compared to the S24 Ultra, which was 8.6mm thick and weighed 233g, the S25 Ultra measures 8.2mm and weighs just 218g. Durability has also been enhanced with Gorilla Glass Armor 2 and a titanium frame, ensuring the device can withstand everyday use.
Bigger, Brighter Display
Thanks to the design tweaks, the S25 Ultra now features a larger 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, up from the S24 Ultra’s 6.8-inch screen. Samsung’s updated anti-reflective technology further cements its reputation as a leader in display innovation.
The screen retains its 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and adaptive color tone. Additional features include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a 12MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K at 60fps. While the front camera remains unchanged from the S24 Ultra, the rear camera system has received some exciting upgrades.
Advanced Camera Features
The S25 Ultra is the first Ultra model to feature a 50MP ultrawide lens, up from the previous 12MP, with a 120-degree field of view and super steady video recording. The 200MP primary lens makes a return, along with the 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens introduced last year. Additionally, there’s a 10MP 3x telephoto portrait camera.
The new AI ProVisual engine enhances photo and video quality, offering improved viewport previews and advanced editing capabilities.
Enhanced Performance
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite (For Galaxy) chip, the S25 Ultra promises faster performance. This processor outpaces its predecessor with a peak clock speed of 4.47GHz compared to 4.32GHz. Additionally, the NPU, responsible for AI tasks, is now 40% faster, enabling quicker responses from the Galaxy AI’s new features.
One UI 7 and AI Innovations
One UI 7 introduces a host of AI-driven features, including the “Now Brief.” This feature summarizes your day, learns your habits, and provides tailored suggestions. “Now Brief” displays weather updates, event notifications, and travel information directly on the lock screen, making it a handy addition for busy users.
Battery and Pricing
The S25 Ultra retains the 5000mAh battery and 45W fast charging from its predecessor, offering up to 14 hours of active use. This proven battery setup ensures consistent performance.
Starting at $1,299 for the 12GB/256GB variant, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is available for pre-order in international markets starting today.
In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra strikes a balance between meaningful updates and retaining features that worked well, offering a solid upgrade for fans of the series.
